I am not so knowledgeable on blogging, having started my first blog last year. I however think that keywords are an important part of your blog. In fact, I made my own 10 commandments on blogging. The first one reads. “Though shall never start a blog post without a keyword in mind.”
Because it doesn’t cost you anything, WordPress.com is a good option if you want to start a blog as a school project, to stay in touch with friends and family, or simply to see if you like this whole blogging thing at all before investing in something more substantial.
Then, when a site visitor clicks on your website to view it, the web host servers help deliver that content to your visitor’s computer screen or mobile device in a visually appealing and understandable format.

In the case of my blog, about 99% of my early readers would come, read a single article, and then leave forever. So instead of missing out on a potential regular, I started gathering email addresses using a service called Awebber, but these days I prefer GetResponse.
PS: my answer to this question is always… “the better question is… how can my blog help me build a profitable business?” Most of the profits from blogging are not made on your blog, but that’s okay. I don’t believe blogging about making money per se, but about branding yourself and positioning yourself within your niche market as an authority and leader. Once that is established, there are so many ways to move people into your money making enterprises. Email marketing, as you pointed out, is one of the best ways to do this. Sending people to your membership sites, services, info products and coaching programs are all great things to route people into as well.
Hi Justin. I think in the financial industry it’s very important to be and to appear professional. You might not need a logo, but I’d suggest getting some good, relaxed professional photos and then using a minimal black and white WordPress theme with not too much fluff.
Every time you send an email to your list you can offer them products/services or just get them to your visit your blog again where you can make money from ads (discussed below). This is exactly what big companies like Groupon do with their mailing lists. They send out offers on a daily or weekly basis
