Excellent article and very true points! I love spending some time on blog and making sure it is organized, as this will make it easier for visitors to follow. Mine is about creative stories and thoughts of mine and includes a store and chat people can spend some time on as well.
The nice thing about AdSense is that you have thousands of advertisers bidding to advertise on your blog, and all you have to do is add the simple code to your blog. Once you do that the process is completely hands off.
hey i actaully have 2 questions about starting a blog..1. is that if i just have a free blog on WordPress, and my blog is owned by them, will i still get money for it?? 2. i already made a free WordPress blog, but in case of any mind changes can i switch to a hosting company (iPage) while still keeping the page i have already made? or would i have to start all over again?
When you put the AdSense code on your blog you have a choice of the style of advertisements (large images, small images, text, etc.) and also where they are placed. The more prominently the ads are displayed the more likely they are to be clicked.
For example, if your site is about golf, your readers are likely to have a healthy income. Because of this, there are a good number of advertisers that want to get their ads in front of your readers, and they are likely to pay a good amount per click to do this.

Modify Your Blog. Once we had our domain, hosting, WordPress, and theme, we spent a lot of time tweaking the theme to get the look and feel we wanted (i.e., making our vision a reality). Then we spent even more time tinkering with the theme and arguing about it and tweaking it some more. Once we had created our blog, we set up a free Feedburner account so people could subscribe to our site via email and RSS subscriptions. And then we established a free Google Analytics account to track our stats. Feedburner and Google Analytics were both easy to sign up for, and we still use both today.
I had a blog a couple years ago in a pretty precise niche (female musicians), too precise maybe. I had like 20 readers! Now I’d like to try again with another topic but I’m afraid there’s way too much blogs about it already (hippie lifestyle including health, fashion, decor, beauty, printables, etc). When I made my first one, I was terrified that my last name, personal profile, or other information would be linked to it. Thank you for your quick response. I have now turned on followers. But I am still wondering if I am confused as I cannot see a Follow Me button on my Facebook blog. I thought that it would display a Follow Me button on the Facebook blog and give viewers who had found the page the option to follow that page whereby it would show up on their home page when I added a new post to the Facebook blog. Am I mistaken in this assumption? Am I getting confused? I know that on my personal Facebook that I have updates show up on my homepage from Companies whose pages I have LIKED in the past. I don’t know exactly how that happens. Does that mean that people who have liked my page get updates from me on their homepage. I hope I am making sense and I am sorry if I am sounding stupid. I find Facebook very confusing.

Reddit – ads appear on the top of the various pages. They are obviously ads so users don’t feel tricked into clicking on them. When people choose to select an ad they usually know it. So there is little chance of upsetting customers this way.
It’s also vital to remember that YouTube is a search engine just like Google and we shouldn’t ignore it. If you create some simple video content to supplement your blog posts you will find that you attract a lot more views and, generally speaking, the stuff you make will appeal to a wider audience.
To go back to our house metaphor, using a theme is like hiring an interior designer to pull everything together and make all the rooms flow, without actually having to paint the walls or carry the furniture yourself.

Blogger is Google’s free tool for creating blogs. It includes site hosting and built-in analytics so you can measure the performance of your blog and make improvements as needed. It comes with a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor for making easy changes to your blog, the ability to upload images, and it comes with several templates for design purposes.
I know enough about SEO to probably be wrong about a lot of it. I could probably write a series of articles on SEO tactics I have learned over the years but as I am not an expert I’ll point you in the right direction to some good articles on the subject.

A question on combining a business webpage with a blog: I have a hosted wordpress website for my consulting business and I use one of the tabs for my blog related to the focus of the consulting. Do you think it’s best to combine the site like I do now – or start a separate site just for the blog?
I’m about to build another theme site/shop and was going to use WP, but based on past experiences, I am going to use Joomla because I know the capabilities and flexibility will make managing a site like this (which will have a blog in it), go much smoother, and then there’s security.
